Incorporating a doormat is a simple way to maintain a tidy home or workplace.
How many of you have those small shaggy coconut fibre mats that leave bits of fibre all over the place? They seem to make more mess than they are worth!
With the right door-mat you can keep your home cleaner and reduce cleaning time!
Good well-maintained entrance matting can dramatically reduce the need for cleaning. For public and office buildings about 80 to 90% of the dirt is tracked in from outside. Installing a total of 15 feet of matting consisting of both indoor and outdoor sections will remove about 80% of this. Thus about two-thirds of the dirt can be removed at the entrance.
A doormat or sometimes spelt door-mat is a flat, usually rectangular object placed immediately outside or inside the entrance to a house or other building. It allows people to easily scrub or wipe the soles of their shoes before entering. Doormats are usually made from tough, long-lasting material such as coir, palmyra (palm) fibres and stalks, nylon, rubber, cloth, or aluminium and other metals. Doormats may also be known as welcome mats. So maybe their real meaning may be we welcome keeping our home clean!
To keep a clean floor it is recommended that living creatures of the two and four legged variety clean the soles of their shoes or paws of their feet clean and dry before entering a room by wiping them on a doormat.
Ha-Ra have both indoor and outdoor mats available that are of a very high grade quality material.
They have two types of fibre, one fibre actually will clean the shoe or paws and the other soft fibre will dry it giving you a clean dry shoe or paw and eliminating a significant amount of dirt that enters a building.
THE TWO FIBRES
There is one course fibre to scrub the sole of the shoe or clean the paws of animals. The other is a synthetic mixed with a cotton fabric to dry the foot or shoe. If a mat is used properly there should not be any marks or residue left behind on the floor once a room is entered.
HOW THE MATS WORK
The fibres of the mat are robust, stiff fibres, which remove coarse dirt, to enhance the brush effect, horizontal grooves collect coarse dirt and moisture. The mats have an impressively high dirt absorption capacity. Since most dirt collects in the grooves, 75% of the dirt can be removed by simple turning and shaking. To further clean the mat we recommend vacuuming it.
The large number of fibres also creates a significantly larger fibre surface which doubles the water absorption capabilities of the mat. The door mat has a slip proof Felexi coat backing ensuring that the mat will not slip even after a long period of use and many washes.
The material used is sun and water resistant so it will cope with most weather conditions.
