Spring is here. Start by getting toxic cleaning products out of your home. It's a small change that can make a big difference. So let's start with the following quiz:
1. WOULD YOU EAT OFF YOUR FLOOR?
2. CAN YOU WASH OUT YOUR MOUTH WITH YOUR SOAP?
3. DO ANY OF THE BOTTLES UNDER YOUR SINK CONTAIN ANYTHING THAT'S DRINKABLE WITHOUT HAVING TO GO TO THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT AFTERWARDS?
4. DO YOU LIKE TO INHALE WHILE YOU CLEAN?
If you answered "NO" to any of these questions, your home has a chemical dependency. Don't panic! It's time to lay off the hard stuff. We believe a home is more than just a box: it's sort of a second skin. So why would you clean your tub with harsh chemicals and then soak in it?
This toxin buildup is called a "body burden" because it does just that - burden our bodies with toxic crap. A recent study proved this burden isn't just shouldered by adults: 287 chemicals were found in the bloodstream of newborn babies. Of those 287 chemicals, 180 are known to cause cancer in people or animals. It is disturbing information!
But don't freak out. Take a few deep breaths. Now, slowly walk over to your kitchen sink, then your bathroom sink and throw away all the toxic cleaning agents you have stashed there. Very simple! The key is to uncover the dirty little secrets hidden in your home before they can do any harm. During spring we will take you through your home, room by room and telling you how to get rid of these dirty little secrets. Ready? Let's get cleaning!
Every week we will launch a new section via this blog - so stay tuned!
